Country House Pietra di Ponente

BOOK HERE
The Farmhouse Country-hotel ”Pietra di Ponente” is near a pre-Roman road in the Castelli Romani Hills, between Ciampino, Marino and Grottaferrata. A park of 9.000 mq encompasses the Casale. In the grounds you will find great open spaces and terraces, both covered and exposed, from which you can enjoy splendid views of Rome (yes that is St. Peter's in the photo above!) and the surrounding hills.  ”Pietra di Ponente” is near many of the towns of the Castelli Romani, as well as Castel Gandolfo and Nemi lakes and the Tuscolo archeological park. You can reach Pietra di Ponente both along Via Anagnina or Via dei Laghi. Ciampino airport is about ten minutes away by car. A free shuttle service is available from and to Sassone and Ciampino train stations. It takes only sixteen minutes to get to the centre of Rome. Free transport from and to Ciampino is also available.

(The shuttle service is free from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m).

The restaurant is open all the year long with a seasonal menu proposing  local traditional dishes made with fresh products, cooked there and then, in order to guarantee quality and authenticity. The wine list presents mainly 'Marino' and 'Frascati' of biological production to keep faith to the history of the Casale, which has had its own wine making cellar for wine production from grapes from local vineyards in the surrounding hills since 1850. At that time the wine preservation took place in the charming cave with lateral niches in which barrels of wood were set on hand-sculpted peperino-stone  bases. The cave is still in existence and the air funnels have been restored to become a distinctive architectonic symbol of the property.
