Cacciani and Ben Stiller!

Ok so he's not exactly a Frascatano, but Ben Stiller was here last year filming
Zoolander 2.  I found out from easyfrascati friend, local food coach and blogger Jo Donghi of https://frascaticookingthatsamore.wordpress.com/ fame :
"Some scenes were filmed in Frascati, at the gorgeous Villa Aldobrandini. And since he was in Frascati, Ben Stiller thought it would be a good idea to dine chez Cacciani. Here he is sitting next to Paolo Cacciani. After WWII when the Italian Film Industry took off and Cinecittà II Film Studios were at their height, their proximity to Frascati and the Castelli Romani meant that many actors came to stay here. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, to mention just one couple. Orson Wells rented a house not far from Monteporzio. Fellini's favorite restaurant was the Il Fico Vecchio, at Grottaferrata. And Swedish actress Anita Ekberg, famed for her show stopping scene in the Trevi Fountain in La Dolce Vita ...well, she even chose to end her days here. She died near Ariccia only last year. Villa Aldobrandini was used also for some scenes in the films Portrait of a Lady and Lady Caroline Lamb."

We'll dedicate a Humans of Frascati page to her too soon!

Andrea da Sessa

Dare we say (hope he doesn't read this!) a would-be musician, that can't sing and can't play but goes around strumming and singing in the streets and in some of the trattorias. He hands out his business cards, just in case you'd like to hire him for a session. Oh, and he is also a 'cantautore'- he writes his own songs...You have to admire him. Here he was delighting the market goers at the Grottaferrata weekly market.

Anicio Tertullo

Anicio Tertullo is an alias, sometimes it comes spontaneously to call him Anicio rather than his real name Paolo. Pellicciari is his surname. He has written books on the history of 'cose Frascatane' (things about Frascati- wine and the history). He usually wears a blue baseball cap and is a one of those guys that knows everything about his hometown, all the little curiosities, the goings on in the Town council, and consequently speaks his mind, often found chatting (....or should we say telling people his mind?!) in the street to co-citizens. To distract him, start talking about vintage cars...

Introducing 'Humans of Frascati' - number one: Sandrone

I am really sad to pass on the bad news that Sandrone died on the 21st July 2015.
Hundreds of people attended his funeral and the Frascati Council is thinking of paying homage by installing a mural painting dedicated to him. We like to remember him like this:

Sandrone. (Pronounced Sand-ro-nay)

Often seen making out he's directing the traffic. Usually smart, in military camouflage outfit or with no shirt on! He's quite frightening to see if you don't know him. But he is actually a great guy, no harm and locals often give him a lift if he thumbs it to and from Squarciarelli in adjacent Grottaferrata.
Everyone in Frascati knows him and he is a bit of an institution. In 2011 a calendar was made with him in different poses. He even inspired a character in a book by Enrico Vanzina.
Photo and video credits go to DVERSO, Enrico Martino and Marcello Bianconcini (the photo was taken from his calendar)! Check out his video below if you like.
